Barreletics makes barre fitness accessible to everyone. Launched in 2018, the brand blends ballet-inspired movement with strength training for low-impact, joint-friendly full-body workouts, offering both in-studio classes and on-demand at-home content for users across the US.
The Story
Barreletics launched in 2016 after its founders, a team of certified barre instructors and physical therapy assistants, grew frustrated with the lack of supportive, grip-focused footwear for low-impact barre workouts. Traditional sticky socks wore out quickly, and barefoot work left students slipping on studio floors during balance holds, leading to minor injuries that could have been avoided. Early prototypes failed repeatedly. The first versions used standard rubber soles that stuck too well to studio floors, making it impossible to execute the gliding movements required for port de bras and side leg lifts. The team spent 18 months testing 27 different sole compounds, working with a small manufacturing partner in Portland, Oregon, to adjust the tread pattern and material density.
