Dermalogica
Dermalogica is a professional skincare company founded by a skin therapist. Based in California, the brand creates custom skincare solutions focused on skin health and education, delivering products that truly work.
The Story
Dermalogica was founded in 1986 by Jane Wurwand, who bootstrapped the company with just 4,000 of personal savings. From the beginning, the mission was clear: create skincare products free of common irritants like lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, and artificial fragrances.
What started as 0 skin care classes for fellow cosmetologists in Los Angeles grew into the world's leading professional skin therapy training academy, The International Dermal Institute. This educational foundation gave Dermalogica unprecedented credibility among skincare professionals.
Today, Dermalogica is a global brand with a presence in over 100 countries. In 2015, the company was acquired by Unilever, with Jane Wurwand remaining as Co-Founder and Chief Visionary. The brand continues to innovate with science-backed formulations and a commitment to professional skincare education.
