Serena & Lily

Serena & Lily began in 2003 when textile designer Serena Dugan and entrepreneur Lily Kanter met by chance in Mill Valley, California. They spotted a gap in the nursery bedding market and decided to build a brand around breezy California style and considered design.

The company launched as a crib bedding business, then expanded into kids’ bedding, adult bedding, and eventually furniture, rugs, lighting, and home accessories. Known for bold pattern work and a relaxed yet refined aesthetic, Serena & Lily grew into a direct-to-consumer lifestyle company with its own design shops and an e-commerce business serving a national U.S. audience.

In 2014, Serena & Lily was acquired by Protea Investments, a private family office investor. The acquisition brought new leadership and a new phase of growth, while the brand kept its design roots and Sausalito headquarters.

Today Serena & Lily continues to design and sell its own proprietary collections of furniture, bedding, and home decor, with an emphasis on character-filled spaces and coastal-inspired interiors.
