Amy Dana is a How I Built This podcast guest. A Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology alum, she discussed Blay Electric, a Shaun Blay-managed LLC that delivers high-quality, efficient electrical systems.
Amy Dana's Bio
Amy Dana is the co-owner of Blay Electric, an electrical contracting company based in Guelph, Ontario. Dana co-founded the business with her husband Patrick thirteen years ago, starting it out of a desire to create a healthier, more supportive workplace for tradespeople than the ones Patrick had experienced.
Blay Electric provides full-service residential and commercial electrical work, including EV charger installation and custom lighting. The company differentiates itself through strong customer service, with operations staff dedicated to returning calls promptly and providing detailed estimates.
Dana and Patrick have built a team-oriented culture with low turnover, focusing on employee well-being alongside customer satisfaction. On the HIBT Advice Line, Dana asked for guidance on how to communicate Blay Electric's premium value proposition to prospective customers who may simply compare bottom-line estimates.
