Jeffrey Hollender's Bio
Jeffrey Hollender (born 1954) is an American entrepreneur, author, and environmental activist who co-founded Seventh Generation Inc. in 1988. He served as CEO for over two decades, building the company from a small mail-order catalog into the leading brand of sustainable, non-toxic household and personal care products.
Before launching Seventh Generation, Hollender acquired Renew America, a mail order catalog of green products, which eventually evolved into the company he co-founded with a mission to put the planet first. Under his leadership, Seventh Generation revolutionized the green cleaning industry and became known for its authenticity and commitment to environmental responsibility.
After leaving Seventh Generation, Hollender continued his work as a leading authority on corporate responsibility, sustainability, and social equity. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at NYU Stern, where he teaches entrepreneurship and sustainable business. He also mentors through the Unreasonable Group, helping scale purpose-driven ventures.
His latest project, Sustain Condoms, reflects his ongoing commitment to creating products that align with environmental values. Hollender has become a prominent voice in the shift from merely responsible business to actively regenerative practices, inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs to build companies that prioritize people and planet alongside profit.
