Shireen Qadri's Bio

Shireen Qadri is the co-founder and co-CEO of Moji Masala, a Philadelphia-based company that makes pre-measured Indian spice blends from authentic Kashmiri family recipes.

Shireen grew up learning to cook from her mother and grandmother's age-old recipes. She met her husband JD Walsh, and the two bonded over their love for the food she grew up eating. They lived in New York before relocating to Philadelphia, where they decided to build a business rooted in that shared culinary heritage.

In 2021, Shireen and JD founded Moji Masala - the name means "mom's spice blends" in Kashmiri. Their mission was to make authentic Indian cooking accessible to anyone, without the guesswork of measuring spices from scratch. The company offers 14 pre-portioned spice blend bundles, each built from Shireen's family recipes and hand-packed for consistency.

Moji Masala gained early traction in the Philadelphia food scene and was featured on Forbes in April 2022. By August 2023, their products were on shelves at Weaver's Way Co-op in Philadelphia's Chestnut Hill neighborhood, and a 6abc feature in April 2024 spotlighted their 14-blend lineup. Shireen and JD continue to run Moji Masala as co-CEOs, building a brand that connects home cooks to the flavors of family tradition.
