Simon Cowell is the British television producer, music executive, and entrepreneur who built Syco Entertainment into a global media empire. Born in Elstree, London, in 1959, he grew up near MGM Studios, where his father worked in real estate and his mother's socialite circle introduced him to show business early. A rebellious student, Cowell left school at 16 and entered the music industry through EMI's mailroom, eventually becoming a song plugger who pitched tracks to A\u0026R executives.
