Will Ahmed's Bio
Will Ahmed is the founder and CEO of WHOOP, the Boston-based wearable technology company that has redefined how athletes and everyday users track recovery, sleep, and physical performance.
A Harvard graduate from the class of 2012, Ahmed developed the WHOOP concept while training as a collegiate squash player. He became frustrated by the inability to measure how his body was recovering between intense training sessions, and the early idea was born from a simple question: how could he avoid becoming rundown during competition season?
In 2012, Ahmed founded WHOOP, turning his Harvard project into a full-time mission. For the first three years, he and his small team built the technology in near stealth, refining the sensors and algorithms that would eventually power the band. He faced significant skepticism from investors who doubted hardware could compete in a world dominated by consumer electronics giants, and at one point the company was reportedly just a week away from bankruptcy before finding its footing.
Today, WHOOP is worn by elite athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and business leaders, and has grown into a multi-billion dollar membership-based business with roughly 550 employees. Ahmed has kept the company in Boston, where it remains focused on its original mission: using continuous physiology data to help people perform better and live healthier.
