Good Things Vending
Refurbished snack vending machines customized with local art, vintage items, and nostalgia products.
The Story
Good Things Vending is a Chicago-based community-driven vending machine company that transforms traditional snack vending machines into small-format local art and oddities shops. Founded in 2018 by Steph Krim, the company stocks machines with local art, vintage items, and nostalgic treasures, rotating goods regularly to keep the experience surprising.
Good Things Vending collaborates with Chicago artists and makers, operates multiple machine locations across the city, and also runs a Good Things Collectors Club for customers. The company has been featured in USA Today, Time Out Chicago, WBEZ, WTTW, and Block Club Chicago, and was highlighted on The Kelly Clarkson Show for its playful, community-focused approach to automated retail.
What started as an excuse to turn work into play became a full-out collaboration with Chicago's artistic community. The team believes in automation not just for snacks and airport necessities, but as small-scale art galleries and treasure hunting spots. They vend an array of goodies from grab-bag style mystery socks to vintage trading card oddities to local artists' xerox-copied photozines.
