Amanda Horan's Bio

Amanda Horan is the Co-Founder and CEO of Line + Cleat, a luxury children's life jacket brand creating USCG-approved, stylish, and sun-safe gear for families. Based in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Horan founded the company with her husband Colin after discovering that nothing on the market combined the safety and style their family demanded.

Before launching Line + Cleat, Horan's background as a mom navigating boating life with her family gave her firsthand insight into the problem. Her husband grew up boating, and her father-in-law is an avid boater, so life on the water became a natural part of family life. When she couldn't find life jackets that were both protective and fashionable for her children, she saw an opportunity to build something better.

Horan and Colin started Line & Cleat to fill that gap, designing soft Evoprene life jackets in elegant, neutral palettes that parents actually want to put on their kids. As the only woman-owned life jacket company in the United States, the brand stands out for mixing function with fashion—offering USCG-approved protection without sacrificing aesthetics.

Through SCORE mentoring and boutique retail partnerships, Line + Cleat has grown into a trusted name in family water safety. The company was a finalist in SCORE's 60th Anniversary Pitch Competition, validating Horan's vision of making safety stylish. Today, Line + Cleat continues to expand its reach, selling the experience families want to have on the water—confident that their children are protected, and looking good doing it.
