David Restiano

David Restiano is the co-founder of SORSOAP, a Brick, New Jersey-based company that makes a dual-purpose muscle recovery soap bar. SORSOAP combines the benefits of physical therapy muscle scraping with everyday shower cleansing, a product born from a personal experience.

Restiano attended Marist College on a biology scholarship, originally planning to pursue a career in medicine. His path shifted when he became a physical therapy patient and experienced muscle scraping firsthand. During a session, Dr. Dan Staats used a muscle scraping tool on Restiano, who felt immediate relief from a nagging hip flexor issue. That moment in the therapy session planted the seed for what would become SORSOAP.

Restiano teamed up with Dr. Dan Staats, a Rutgers physical therapy graduate, to turn the idea into a product. Together, they developed a hard soap bar infused with scraping elements that athletes and everyday people could use in the shower. The pair accepted 100,000 in funding for 10 percent equity from Mark Cuban on Season 15 of ABC Shark Tank after a pitch that highlighted both the therapeutic benefits and everyday utility of the product.

The deal with Cuban and his investment firm, Mark Cuban Companies, provided the capital and mentorship to scale SORSOAP beyond its local New Jersey roots. The company continues to expand its reach among athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone dealing with muscle soreness, all from its Brick, New Jersey headquarters.
