Mia Mueller

Mia Mueller is the founder and owner of Pottery to the People, a Berlin-based community ceramics studio and online learning platform.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, USA, Mueller discovered ceramics in 2010 when she took a ceramics class at the University of Wisconsin Madison as part of her BFA. After graduating, she joined Midwest Clay Project, a community ceramics studio in Milwaukee, where most of her learning happened. It was there that she developed her anti-elitist philosophy — the belief that pottery should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or experience level.

Mueller moved to Berlin in 2014 and decided to commit herself to ceramics as much as possible. In 2019 she founded Pottery to the People as a community ceramics studio. The Berlin ceramics community is now thriving, and she is proud to say her studio was one of the first. Pottery to the People has since expanded well beyond the studio walls. Mueller teaches through Skillshare with courses including "Potter's Wheel for Beginners" and "How to Color Clay and Make Marbled Pottery." She runs a YouTube channel with free pottery tutorials and sells digital ceramics templates through her Etsy shop. She is also a contributor to Ceramic Arts Network. In 2024, her innovative work — pottery that mimics the look of corrugated cardboard — was featured by Yanko Design, a leading industrial design publication.
