Math Medic
Math Medic is an education platform built by teachers for students. It offers free, student-centered lesson plans and assessment tools covering core high school math subjects and has grown to reach over 100,000 teachers nationwide.
The Story
Math Medic began when three math teachers from East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan started developing the Experience First, Formalize Later (EFFL) approach in their own classrooms. They realized the standard memorization-heavy model wasn't working for most students and set out to build lessons that actually made math click.
Over several years, the team created thousands of lessons and shared them across their district. Word spread quickly β by 2021, teachers from across the country were reaching out for access, and the team formally organized as Math Medic, LLC. That same year, they launched the Math Medic Foundation to bring free resources to schools that couldn't afford them.
Today, Math Medic reaches over 100,000 teachers nationwide with its complete high school math curriculum, daily lesson plans, and the Math Medic Assessment Platform. Subscriptions start at $325 per teacher per year, and beginning fall 2026, Math Medic Plus will deliver a full curriculum package. The platform remains rooted in the Michigan classroom where it started β built by teachers, for teachers.
