Barbara Storper's Bio

Barbara Storper, MS, RD, is the founder, executive director, and creator of FoodPlay Productions, an Emmy Award-winning nutrition education theater company based in Hatfield, Massachusetts. Since 1982, FoodPlay has used live theater, video kits, and curricula to help children across the nation build healthier eating and physical activity habits through fun, interactive performances.

Storper earned her Master of Science degree and became a Registered Dietitian before launching FoodPlay. In January 1982, she performed her first FOODPLAY show for 400 children in an inner-city school in Brooklyn, New York. The overwhelming positive response confirmed her belief in live theater's power to make nutrition come alive for young audiences. That single performance sparked a 44-year career dedicated to transforming how children think about food.

Under Storper's leadership, FoodPlay has grown from that single Brooklyn school show into a nationally recognized educational force. She created original productions like "ToBe Fit, The Juggling Nutrition Magician Show" and developed comprehensive resource kits now used by teachers and parents nationwide. Her work has reached countless schools and families, earning industry awards and consistent media coverage, including appearances on Progressive Radio Network where she discusses childhood eating habits.

Today, FoodPlay continues to expand its reach with digital resources, virtual strategy sessions, and activity kits sold through Teachers Pay Teachers. Storper remains hands-on as creator, author, and nutritionist, so that every show and resource maintains the playful, evidence-based approach that has defined her career from the start.
