Dave Weiner's Bio
Dave Weiner is the Founder and CEO of Priority Bicycles, a company dedicated to designing high-quality, low-maintenance bicycles with innovative belt drive systems at accessible prices. Launched in 2012, Priority focuses on recreational riders who value reliability and simplicity.
Weiner's connection to cycling runs deep. He built bikes from scratch as a child, worked in bike stores throughout college in California, and earned his degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After years in the bicycle industry, he moved to New York City to explore new opportunities.
Before founding Priority, Weiner served as North American CEO of a software company. But his passion for cycling led him to take a risk: quitting his corporate job to pursue a risky idea - building a new kind of bike. He launched Priority Bicycles with founding partner Connor Swegle and business partner John Benis.
The company initially gained traction through crowdfunding, launching the Priority Classic and Priority Start models on Kickstarter. Today, Priority produces around 10,000 bicycles annually, manufactured in China with a focus on quality control. Their belt-driven bikes have become known for low maintenance and durability.
Weiner has shared his entrepreneurial journey on major platforms including NPR's How I Built This with Guy Raz and APM's Marketplace. Under his leadership, Priority Bicycles continues to grow, serving recreational riders seeking hassle-free cycling experiences.
