Eric Poulin's Bio
Eric Poulin is the co-founder of mapleROO, an Australian natural sports nutrition brand built around 100 percent pure Canadian maple syrup. A Canadian competitive triathlete and ultra runner, Eric logged roughly 20 Ironman and Ironman 70.3 races across Canada, the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, and 3 ultra races, before turning his race-day nutrition struggles into a business.
Sport was always part of Eric's life. Ice hockey, skiing, and golf were his early sports. Around 2013 or 2014, a friendly challenge pulled him into triathlon, and he never looked back. Running was his strength, but swimming took the longest. His first full Ironman was memorable less for the finish and more for the medical tent collapse caused by bad nutrition on the course.
That experience led Eric and his partner Karine Allard to team up with the University of Canberra, whose Food and Nutrition lab tested every formula. They partner with Maple from Canada, which has invested over $15 million in research into maple syrup's health benefits. Together they built mapleROO: all-natural gels, drink mixes, and waffles formulated for endurance athletes.
Eric, Karine, and their 2 young daughters moved from Canada to Sydney in 2022. mapleROO officially launched in March 2025. Eric ran a personal-best marathon of 3:06 at the Canberra Marathon and qualified for the IM 70.3 World Championship 2025 in Marbella, Spain. He hosts the mapleROO Podcast and serves as CEO and Owner of Elite Energy Events.
