Jean-Pierre Parent

Jean-Pierre Parent is the CEO of Soma Kombucha and Jun, a sustainable kombucha brewing company based in Portland, Oregon. Soma operates three taproom locations across Washington and Oregon and runs a thriving hand-crafted beverage co-manufacturing and private labeling operation serving the Pacific Northwest and Southern California.

Before beverages, Parent taught yoga in Portland. Noticing students would leave without connecting after class, he started sharing his homemade kombucha to spark conversation. The brew quickly became a student favorite and evolved into Soma Kombucha.

Parent founded Soma in 2008, scaling his home recipe into a regional brand with multiple taprooms and a contract manufacturing arm. Today, Soma's production facility co-manufactures for other beverage companies. This represents Parent's shift from community-building through yoga to building community through craft fermentation.

Under Parent's leadership, Soma has grown from a local favorite into a distributed brand with dozens of retail locations. The co-manufacturing division lets other brands tap into Soma's production expertise, extending Parent's influence across the craft beverage ecosystem.
