Kimberly Becker's Bio
Kimberly Becker is the founder and designer of K. Becker Designs, a slow-fashion clothing brand based in Woolwich, Maine that creates thoughtfully made pieces for women over 40 who want better fit, better quality, and better ethics than fast fashion offers. The brand sews garments in small batches using high-quality materials, with knitwear made on demand in Brooklyn via 3D knitting machines that produce nearly zero waste.
Becker graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1990 with a BFA in Textile Design and trained as a haute couture embroiderer at Ecole Lesage in Paris. After RISD, she moved to New York City and spent roughly a decade working in the garment district, building hands-on expertise in textiles and production before launching her own label.
She established K. Becker Designs in Woolwich, Maine, where she runs the business as a woman-owned and operated studio. The brand's ethos centers on a capsule-closet approach, ethical manufacturing by a family-run team in New York, and deadstock fabric sourcing to keep overstock out of landfills.
Beyond fashion, Becker is a passionate feminist who spearheaded the installation of schoolyard bathrooms for girls in Uganda and has fundraised for DroTY Uganda, a nonprofit supporting young people.
